Scafell Pike - 978m
12/03/2011

Following our flying visit to Cyprus in February (where we literally spent most of the weekend on a plane) we decided on something a little closer to home - Scafell Pike, England’s highest point.

Bob drove down from Scotland in his faithful old Saab (aka the Munro Mobile) while I let the train take the strain from London. We were supposed to meet at the train station but when Bob didn't turn up it was clear that the Munro Mobile had finally given up. After a few hours of waiting in a local pub and a few beers later, Bob finally arrived (all-be-it on the back of a tow truck).

It was March and the weather was grim but, again, our spirits were buoyed by the fact that we were out in the elements and in the middle of the beautiful Lake District countryside.

We started from Wast Water, a typical Wordsworth style setting, and followed the clearly marked paths all the way.

Even in these conditions the scenery was amazing!

We reached the summit fairly quickly and with little difficulty.
