Holland, Belgium and Luxembourg

Holland, April 2011
In April, 2011 we headed to Holland, Belgium and Luxembourg for the weekend and to meet up with an old friend of ours from Hamburg. Strangely, Kirby was happy to tag along with us during our trip around the Benelux high points and later we realised why. His acute fear of heights meant that these countries, which are not known for being particularly mountainous, suited Kirby just fine.

Top of Belgium! April 2011
After a successful summit of the steep steps of Belgium's highpoint, Signal de Botrange and the mountain of chips with mayonnaise at Holland's high point, Vaalserberg we were exhausted and ready for some light refreshment.

I do luuv de cake!
Two country's done we decided to find a place to sleep for the night and complete the trip into neighbouring Luxembourg the next day. Although the relatively flat lands of the Benelux countries may not provide a very challenging climbing experience, finding the top of what appears to be a farmer’s field definitely does!

Luxembourg, April 2011
All-in-all, it was a fantastic few days exploring these three distinct countries and tasting their wares with good friends and plenty of laughs along the way.
