Mount Olympus - 1951m
05/02/2011

Originally, the plan was to try and complete all 48 highpoints in record time, but that didn’t work out so well. So the plan changed to completing them in our own good time, which seems to be working out better. We started with Cyprus, purely because the flights were cheap from the UK in February and its southerly location permitted a year-round summit attempt.

Although Mount Olympus is fairly big (1951m) in comparison to many other European country highpoints on the list, it doesn’t offer a very challenging climb. However, we absolutely loved this mountain because it marked the beginning of our adventure and the beer was cheap!

The sun soon disappeared as we drove higher, as did the road, and it was time to rally the rental car through the hills :)

Ski season in Cyprus!

Mark at the top!

Time for a few beers before we fly back home - the first highpoint 'in the bag!'
